Peter is a Senior Software Engineer at Google DeepMind, where he leads zero-to-one development for Gemini, building production-ready prototypes within 24 hours of a leadership insight. His prototypes have shipped as Gemini Canvas and Gemini Agent, and he co-created Little PAIPer with Peter Norvig, a Socratic, dialogue-based platform for AI education.
His independent work pursues the same question from the side of the humanities: an LLM pipeline that translates and stages ancient Greek drama (beginning with Lucian's Dialogues of the Dead, last Englished in 1905); an agent that composes thirty new Goldberg variations of its own, performing and critiquing its own counterpoint over Bach's ground bass to test whether musical coherence is a measurable quantity; and an ambient AI companion designed to disappear — summoned from earbuds, smart glasses, or a fountain pen on cotton paper, in the tradition of calm, disappearing computing. He also founded and runs the Gemini Meetup, Silicon Valley's largest independent AI community, with 14,321 RSVPs across 69 biweekly sessions at Google HQ.
At HAI Lab, he collaborates with Philipp Koralus and Edward Harcourt on an adaptive learning system to supplement the Oxonian tutorial relationship, investigating whether LLMs are capable of goal-directed, truth-seeking collaborative inquiry — and whether they can ask the right questions to help people reason through their own philosophical positions.
Peter studied Computer Science, Philosophy, Comparative Literature, and Classics across the University of Southern California, Harvard, and Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg.
