The Institute for Ethics in AI and the Accelerator Fellowship Programme  partnered with the DLD Conference 2026 held in Munich between 15 to 17 January 2026, contributing to a series of high-level discussions on technology, society, and ethics at one of Europe’s leading innovation conferences.

Over three days, Institute and Accelerator Fellowship Programme affiliates took part in sessions spanning AI, longevity, democratic participation, creativity, geopolitics, and humane technological futures.

  • Professor Edward Harcourt, Director of our Institute, participated in a panel discussion titled How to Build a More Connected, Resilient, and Humane World, alongside leaders from media, civil society, and technology, exploring the ethical foundations of resilience, connection, and human-centred innovation. ▶ Watch the session here

  • Baroness Beeban Kidron, advisor to the Institute for Ethics in AI, discussed The Need for Creators in a Time of AI, highlighting why human creativity, authorship, and cultural value must remain central as AI systems transform creative industries and public life.

Beyond the main conference programme, the Institute for Ethics in AI hosted a dedicated AI ethics dinner, bringing together academics, industry leaders, policymakers, and Accelerator Fellows to reflect on Europe’s role in responsible and values-driven AI development.

Participation in DLD 2026 reinforced the importance of sustained, interdisciplinary engagement on AI ethics, and the Institute for Ethics in AI and the Accelerator Fellowship Programme look forward to continuing these conversations through research, collaboration, and public dialogue.

We are grateful to Dr Jacob Burda, Fellow of the Accelerator Fellowship Programme, for championing and enabling our participation at DLD 2026.
