Leslye Dias Duran

Leslye Dias Duran has a PhD and a M.A in Philosophy with a focus on applied ethics from the Ruhr University Bochum. Their doctoral dissertation draws on a rights-based theory of risk ethics and integrates insights from relational ethics to account for the complexity of healthcare delivery. Dr Dias Duran developed a normative framework called an ecosystem of moral constellations: a dynamic structure for evaluating how rights and responsibilities should be distributed among patients, clinicians, developers, and institutions at various normative levels in the wake of increased development and implementation of AI technologies.

Research Interests

Dr Dias Duran's research interests lie at the intersection of moral philosophy, normative ethics and technology. She has sought to examine how rights, agency, and responsibility are shaped in the development and deployment of artificial intelligence through a rights-based, relational lens. Dr Dias Duran also interested in investigating the impact of emerging technologies in human decision-making, in particular in critical sectors like education and healthcare.
