Our associates represent a diverse group of academics who are engaged in innovative research that furthers the Institutes commitment to academic excellence.

 

Distinguished Research Fellows:

  • Professor Ruth ChangChair and Professor of Jurisprudence at the University of Oxford and a Professorial Fellow at University College, Oxford.
  • Professor Seth LazarProfessor in the School of Philosophy at the ANU, project leader of the Humanising Machine Intelligence grand challenge, director of a Templeton World Charity Foundation project on ‘Moral Skill and Artificial Intelligence’, and lead CI of an Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project on Ethics and Risk.
  • Dr James Manyika - Senior partner at McKinsey & Company, chairman and director of McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), and a member of McKinsey’s board, known as the Shareholders Council.

  • Professor Jeremias Adams-PrasslFellow of Magdalen College, and Deputy Director of the Institute of European and Comparative Law.
  • Dr Teresa BejanAssociate Professor of Political Theory and Fellow of Oriel College at the University of Oxford.
  • Ms Elizabeth RenierisFounding Director of the Notre Dame-IBM Technology Ethics Lab, the applied research and development arm of the University of Notre Dame’s Technology Ethics Center, where she helps develop and oversee projects to promote human values in technology.
  • Dr Daniel SusskindFellow in Economics at Oxford University, a Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Ethics in AI at Oxford University, and a Visiting Professor at King’s College London.

Research Associates:

  • Dr Dominic BurbidgeResearch Coordinator of the Programme for the Foundations of Law and Constitutional Government in the Faculty of Law.
  • Dr Linda EggertInterdisciplinary Ethics Fellow at the McCoy Family Center for Ethics in Society. She also spends part of her time at Apple University.
  • Ms Aislinn Kelly-LythResearcher on Algorithmic Management at the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, working on the project ‘iMANAGE - Rethinking Employment Law for a World of Algorithmic Management’.
  • Dr Max Kiener - Philosopher at the University of Oxford and specialise in moral and legal philosophy.
  • Dr Nataliya Tkachenko - Leads the Data Science and AI theme at the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group.
  • Dr Charlotte Unruh - Postdoctoral Researcher at the School of Governance, Technical University of Munich, and a Global Priorities Fellow 2021 at the Forethought Foundation, Oxford.
  • Dr John ZerilliLeverhulme Fellow at the University of Oxford, a Research Associate in the Oxford Institute for Ethics in AI, and an Associate Fellow in the Centre for the Future of Intelligence at the University of Cambridge.
